A View from Table Mountain

Hi Dave. This is a view from Table mountain. At a distance, jutting above the cloud, which is called the table cloth, is the tip of another mountain. The sky above is light blue, a bit like your Bob the builder pyjamas..Only joking!!! Dave wears mens pyjamas. To the right of the pic is the jagged grey cliff face of Table mountain. We had just climbed through the cloud and were greated with this beautiful view.
A slow morning today. Started it off with a bowl of porridge, bannana and cup of Roibush tea. Was contemplating what to do, when i bumped into a lovely Brit, Harvey, who had just arrived on the flight from the UK and was stuck with what to do. I suggested table Mountain, so off we went. We decided to climb to the top and headed off, climbing towards thick cloud. Harvey is a lovely bloke, who works in IT in london. He has quit his job and is heading off on an African adventure on a bus for 3 months, ending up with the Gorillas in Rwanda. Lucky bloody fella. It took us 1.40 mins to reach the top and the views of the cloud sitting below were beautiful. We had some food and a cuppa and took the cable car down. Harvey headed back to the Hostel while I went into the old part of the town and sat a while trying to put together the horror film, 'ARCADE' that i had been writing with my pal Anthony. It's proving a tough story to crack and I have given myself to the end of Africa to sort it otherwise it's on to the next. KISS...keep it simple, stupid !!! Town was very beautiful, with of course a huge sting in it's tail. Very humbling. Went around the museum and immersed myself in the section on sharks for a couple of hours. Stood infront of a life size Great White and smiled, knowing that in 8 days time i'll be meeting him in person. He wasn't so tough ! I gave him a good smack on the snout, just to let him know who was boss............! Diving starts tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Over and out.

  1. Richie while you are in Capetown get yourself down to the District 6 Museum if you can. It's a very moving, beautifully put together place, curated and staffed by people who lived in District 6 and were evicted at 2 days notice. The district was bulldozed to make way for new housing but it was so controversial that it still hasn't been built on. Best museum I have ever been in and an insight in to a less than glorious part of SA's history. Kate xxx
